We created Shideler Skyvara Construction in 2004 but both of us have been general contractors for much longer. By building on our combined 48 years in construction, our complementary strengths and our shared dedication to customer satisfaction, we are able to offer much better service than we could as solo operators.
From the start, we made the decision to keep our operation small and personalized. Depending on the scope of work, we’ll handle two to three projects at the same time. You’ll see from our customer testimonials that this allows us to stay closely involved with each project.
Realize that you are going to be living on a job site. There will be dirt and noise. We will set with you the start and finish times for construction work. We recommend that you keep your cars away from the area during work hours so that there is access for workers and deliveries. This will also prevent inadvertent damage to your vehicles. We’ll figure out with you sanitation facilities for workers. If you have small children, it’s better to keep them out of the work area during the day as tools will be lying around that could be dangerous for them. If they need naps, you might want to consider going to a friend’s house, going for a walk/drive or even heading to the peace of a public library. You may even want to consider heading off to see the grandparents for a few weeks when the heaviest construction is scheduled. Pets can also be disturbed by the work so it’s a good idea to think about setting aside an area/room where they can stay during work hours
While it is our job site, we always remember that this is your home. Every day, we will ensure that the job site is clean and tidy for you to come home to.
Questions will often come up during a construction project so please provide us with several ways to contact you during work hours. If we can get a decision from you quickly, this can prevent delays to the schedule.
Make sure that materials are chosen as quickly as possible so that there are no hold-ups on construction while waiting for deliveries. To give you an idea of how important this is, some items (e.g. windows, kitchen cabinets) might take eight weeks or longer to be delivered.
