Green Construction and Remodeling
It’s no surprise that there is increasing interest in green construction and remodeling practices in Marin. The good news is that building energy efficient homes using products which are safer for the environment and for our own health is not just a passing trend. Products are easier to find and costs are coming down as the market expands.
With more time being spent indoors, it’s critical that our homes provide a healthy environment. This is particularly true for parents with young children as a home remodel often takes place as the family expands. For example, new paint and new carpet can contribute significantly to indoor pollution through toxic emissions. By choosing low-VOC paint and low chemical-emitting carpet (or even reducing the amount of carpeting in the home), you can create a healthier environment.
As a Certified Green Building Company, Shideler Skyvara Construction has worked with clients who opted to take a green approach to their project, including using products with less toxicity, installing energy efficient appliances and working with environmentally sustainable resources.
