We worked with the client to source low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) products such as cabinets (which are the greatest source of formaldehyde in new homes) and paint, tiles made from recycled materials, locally-made concrete countertops and predominantly florescent lighting (which generates a smaller carbon footprint). We also provided structural input to open up the kitchen to the living room and to the striking views of San Pablo Bay. We partnered with an experienced structural engineer to come up with a creative way to remove a bearing wall, support the roof, and strengthen the house so it's sturdier than when we started.
They are great communicators who come at things from the same place I do - I really felt like we spoke the same language. Bottom line: they’re great to work with and I wouldn’t think of doing another remodel or building project without them.
